Got Woods? Come see how you can improve the health, wildlife habitat and your enjoyment of your forest. Join us for a woods walk! Greg and Kathy Lessord and the Monroe County Cornell Cooperative Extension Master Forest Owner program invite the public to a free educational tour of the Lessord’s private forest. Representatives from the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation and Monroe County Soil and Water Conservation District will help lead discussion. The Lessord’s will share information about steps they’ve taken to enhance the health of their forest as well as special projects such as invasive species removal, forest restoration after ash removal due to emerald ash borer, and plans for an upcoming timber sale. The Cornell Cooperative Extension Master Forest Owner (MFO) program offers forest management assistance to private woodland owners. MFO volunteers provide free visits to private woodlots and connect woodlot owners to resources for forest management.
