Invasive Species Update: Spotted Lanternfly

The spotted lanternfly is an invasive pest from Asia whose preferred host is Ailanthus altissima (tree of heaven.) It also feeds on 70+ plants including grape, hops, apple, maple, black walnut, birch, sycamore and more. 

This insect could have a huge negative impact on NYS forests, as well as the agricultural and tourism industries. Learn more about the insect at the Irondequoit library on Tuesday, March 5.
