2019 4-H Communication Institute

Registration for the 2019 4-H Communication Institute is now officially open (registration closes May 24, 2019). There are 100 slots available for youth who would like to expand their communication skills alongside Cornell faculty, students, and their peers.

This year we will host two tracks with support from the Cornell University Department of Communication. The emphasis in the two tracks will be on persuasive and informative talks. Each track has a thesis statement & structure workshop to support it and the informative talk track has a complementary workshop on arguments. The persuasive talks track is complemented with a workshop on adapting to an audience.

The event will be held on the Ag quad in Warren Hall and housing is available on West campus for approved CCE volunteers and staff, as well as youth June 1-2, 2019. The fee to participate is $50 per person and the NYS 4-H office would like to recognize the generous support of the NYS 4-H Foundation in helping to make this event possible.

Youth who place in the top of their track will serve as Ambassadors for the NYS 4-H office for the 2019-2020 year. In addition there are opportunities to work with local media at the NYS fair, as well as partner with National 4-H in order to cover the Youth in Action award ceremony, and to serve as a judge for Cornell University sponsored speaking competitions.

Scholarships may be available through your local CCE 4-H Office.
