Why volunteer with 4-H?
At 4-H, we believe that every young person has a spark that can be ignited with the support of a kind and caring adult. We will work with you as a volunteer and accommodate your schedule so that you can support the development of youth in your community in whatever way you can.
What will you do?
Volunteers can engage with 4-H in many different ways. From leading your own club to offering administrative support, volunteers always make a difference where they can.
Become a club leader
Volunteer for Special or One-time Events like Public Presentations or Produced in New York
Present special interest demonstrations at schools or clubs
Help in schools or after school
Office/administrative support
Be a Teen/Young Adult Leader
Chaperone/advise a trip
Evaluate 4-H exhibits
In addition, those who volunteer to work directly with youth will be asked to consent to a criminal background screening and/or motor vehicle record at Cooperative Extension's expense, as a means of ensuring the safety and security both of our volunteers and of the people we serve through our programs.

Volunteer Orientation
Each year volunteers from across the state share their time and talents with youth, families, and communities through Cornell Cooperative Extension. Programs like 4-H Youth Development, the Master Gardener Volunteer Program, and boards and committees provide ways for people like you to give back, learn more and grow contacts.
