Juliana Alvarado is originally from Colombia. She earned her degree in Biology from the National University of Colombia and completed a master’s in Sustainable Agriculture and Chemical Ecology at the University of Neuchâtel in Switzerland.

Juliana brings experience as both a researcher and an educator and has been recognized with several awards for her leadership in environmental projects, most recently in 2024 at the University of Neuchâtel.

Since arriving in Rochester in 2025, she has been inspired by the region’s natural beauty and the warmth of its people. Her lifelong dream has been to build a bridge between science and the community through her expertise, a vision she now fulfills as the Horticulture Program Leader at CCE.

Bilingual in Spanish and English, Juliana enjoys adventures in nature, a good book, yoga, embroidery, and spending time with family and friends.
