Michael was born in Adams Basin, NY, and spent his childhood in the woods with his dad and in the garden with his mom. A Monroe County 4-H Youth, Michael studied Spanish Literature at New York University, and worked as a translator and an engineer before finding his way home to his first love: local food, plants, and ecosystems. Michael built out and directed one of New York State’s first hemp processing facilities, and has worked to integrate the New York agricultural supply chain at a local food hub. A proud member of Rochester’s Urban Agriculture Working Group, he is grateful to be part of the team at Cornell Cooperative Extension, and contribute to the association’s critical work in food justice, urban agriculture, and workforce development.
