Challis is a lifelong resident of the local region, growing up on a small farm in Orleans County, living in the City of Rochester for over a decade, and now a resident of Genesee County where he and his wife have a small hobby farm raising chickens, goats, geese, pigs, and a cow. He recently earned his graduate degree in Natural Resource Stewardship from Colorado State University as well as a graduate certificate in Water Resources. He comes to CCE Monroe with aspirations of giving back to his community, helping people connect with the natural world, and with the foods they eat. Aside from farming, Challis is interested in plants, ecological restoration, watershed protection, water as a human right, and many other topics. A self-described “plant nerd” and life-long learner, Challis is excited to join the CCE Monroe team where he hopes to learn, teach, and grow alongside his teammates.
