4-H Youth Development
Rachel is the newest member of CCE’s 4-H Youth Development staff. She grew up on the ancestral family homestead in Afton, NY, Chenango County, where she cultivated a curiosity and love for art and the outdoors. A SUNY New Paltz alumni, Rachel carries her schooling in Art Education through all facets of life, sharing the joy and wonders of staying active with one’s hands in every community she finds herself in. Prior to joining the CCE Monroe Team, Rachel has worked as the team leader, events organizer, and a farm worker at local CSA Wild Hill Farm. Her artistic practices have led to community projects in various capacities, from her Wall/Therapy “Raise Voices, Read Books” painting series, to collaborating with Mendon Public Library patrons on the creation of window panel murals.
Rachel is passionate about tying art and agriculture education into the lives of students of all ages, growing outdoor spaces that are welcoming and accessible to all, and serving the communities that shaped her. She enjoys watching her cat Sage bake biscuits, reading climate fiction tales and NYS specific nonfiction while sipping on piping hot tea, learning ukelele, and singing in folk ballad circles!
